Position Title: Tier II Technician III

General Summary:

The primary purpose of this position is to provide the highest level of support for Broadband, DTV, iVideo and other related services.

The normal hours for this position are 8 am – 5 pm; M – F with occasional after hours and weekend duty. In addition, this position responds to after hour emergency call out via rotating on call schedule.

Essential Job Functions:

  • • Provides technical phone support for broadband, video and other related services.
  • • Provisions and troubleshoots various network devices using internal tools and command line functionality.
  • • Reads maps showing network infrastructure and makes recommendations based upon the information shown.
  • • Creates and maintains accurate customer records.
  • • Responds to after hour emergency call out via rotating on call schedule.
  • • Commits to performing job tasks in a manner that ensures a safe work environment.
  • • Willingly and cooperatively performs other related duties as assigned by management.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • • Must, at minimum, meet the Certification and Training requirements of the Tier II Technician III listed at the bottom of this opening.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • • Knowledge of IP networking, multicast IP, and color code.
  • • Knowledge of Windows operating systems, UNIX, and LINUX.
  • • Knowledge of computer networking, file management, hardware, software, Internet protocols, routing, and communication principals and their application.
  • • Proficient in operating a personal computer and software application pertaining to job function.
  • • Knowledge of company products/services, policies and procedures.
  • • Knowledge of Pioneer’s broadband products and services.
  • • Ability to interact by phone clearly, efficiently and successfully for an extended period of time.
  • • Good listening, verbal and written communication skills.
  • • Skill in prioritizing, completing multiple tasks, identifying problems and finding resolutions.
  • • Ability to communicate with customers, co-workers and various business contacts in a professional and courteous manner.
  • • Ability to work independently, analyze technical data and make sound decisions using information at hand.
  • • Ability to adapt in a rapidly changing technical environment.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • • Able and willing to be on call and work extended hours, weekends and holidays.
  • • Able and willing to continue technical skill development and attend training away from home for extended periods of time.

Physical Requirements:

  • • Sitting or standing for extended periods, walking, finger dexterity, feeling, repetitive motions, talking, hearing and visual acuity including close vision.
  • • Occasionally may be required to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • • May be required occasionally to stoop, kneel or bend.
  • • Must be able to distinguish colors.
  • • Must be able to climb and stand on a ladder for extended periods.

Tier II Certification and Training Requirements

Tier II Technician III:

  • • 0 to 1 year of experience in related field
  • • Must acquire training in Adtran products within 24 months.
  • • Must acquire training in Calix products within 24 months.
  • • Must acquire CompTIA Network+ within 24 months and maintain certification until a higher certification is acquired.

Tier II Technician IV:

  • • Minimum two (2) years of experience in related field
  • • Must acquire Wireshark Training.
  • • Must acquire or possess a current CompTIA Linux+ or CompTIA A+ certification and maintain the certification.1
  • • Must acquire or possess a current CWNP-CWTS certification and maintain the certification until a higher certification is acquired.

Tier II Technician V:

  • • Minimum three (3) years of experience in related field
  • • Must acquire or possess a current Cisco CCNA certification and maintain the certification.
  • • Must acquire or possess a current CNWP-CWNA certification and maintain the certification
