Position Title: Network Operations Center Technician I-III

Safety Sensitive: Yes

Under the Oklahoma Medical Marijuana and Patient Protection Act, this position is considered safety sensitive. Safety-sensitive is defined as a job that includes monitoring the performance or operation of equipment where the malfunction could result in property damage.

General Summary:

This position monitors and responds to system alarms within the cellular and telephone networks and associated peripheral equipment using the Network Management software. Also investigates and resolves alarms, trouble tickets, and cellular roaming complaints.

This department is operated 24-hours/7-day a week. This position consists of a 40-hour workweek, which can include weekends, holidays, and the possibility of a shift rotation on occasion as needed.

Essential Job Functions:

  • • Monitor system alarms within the cellular and telephone networks including peripheral equipment including AAA, SMSC/MMSC, STP, Calix, Cisco, DTV, iVideo, SSR, VOIP and IP Wireless broadband through the Network Management software.
  • • Responds, investigates, and resolves alarms and trouble tickets on cellular and telephone switches and associated peripheral equipment including T-1 & ETS circuits, power systems and tower light systems.
  • • Records, documents, and provides outage reports as needed to Management.
  • • Assists a wide variety of company technicians with testing and troubleshooting.
  • • Willingly works weekdays and weekends on rotating shifts including swing and midnight shift.
  • • Responds to after hour emergency call outs due to weather or lack of manpower as notified.
  • • Commits to performing job tasks in a manner that ensures a safe work environment.

Essential Job Functions:

  • • Willingly and cooperatively performs other related duties as assigned by management.
  • • Provides training and technical support to NOC Technicians.
  • • Restores hardware faults using commands and interprets the output of these commands to resolve alarm issues in a timely manner.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • • Some knowledge or experience and/or training in related field.
  • • Must meet, at minimum, the attached Certification and Training requirements of the NOC Tech I.
  • • Must maintain a good driving record and a valid driver license.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • • Basic skill in analyzing, logically organizing and interpreting data, identifying problems and finding effective solutions.
  • • Basic knowledge of cellular technology.
  • • Knowledge of company products/services, policies and procedures.
  • • Good listening, verbal and written communication skills.
  • • Proficient in operating a personal computer and software application pertaining to job function.
  • • Skill in prioritizing, completing multiple tasks, identifying problems and finding resolutions.

Physical Requirements:

  • • Sitting or standing for extended periods, walking, finger dexterity, feeling, repetitive motions, talking, hearing and visual acuity including close vision.
  • • Ability to lift up to 30 lbs.
  • • Ability to drive.
  • • Ability to stoop, kneel, bend and reach over your head and work in a confined area.
  • • Must be able to distinguish colors.
  • • Must be able to climb and stand on ladder for extended periods.

NOC Certification and Training Requirements

NOC Technician I:

  • • 0 to 1 year of experience in related field.
  • • Must acquire DSLAM training.
  • • Must acquire CompTIA A+ and maintain certification until a higher certification is acquired.1

NOC Technician II:

  • • Minimum two (2) years of experience in related field preferred.
  • • Must acquire or possess a current Cisco CCT or CompTIA Network+ certification and maintain the certification until a higher certification is acquired.1

NOC Technician III:

  • • Minimum three (3) years of experience in related field preferred.
  • • Must acquire or possess a current CWNP-CWTS certification and maintain the certification until a higher certification is acquired.1
  • • Must acquire or possess a current Cisco CCENT certification and maintain the certification.1
