Beef Industry Scholarship

The National Cattlemen’s Foundation and CME Group are committed to the future of the cattle industry and continue to recognize and support outstanding youth in the beef community. The tradition remains strong today, each year a total of ten $1,500.00 scholarships are awarded to students pursuing careers in the beef industry. Fields of study may include: education, communications, production, research or any other area involved with the beef industry. The purpose of this program is to identify and encourage talented and thoughtful students who will emerge as industry leaders.  Individual applicant or their family must be a member of the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association.

Applicants must:

  • Be a graduating high school senior or full-time undergraduate student who will be enrolled in a two- or four-year institution for the 2024-2025 school year.
  • Have demonstrated a commitment to a career in the beef industry through classes, internships or life experiences.
  • Include a Letter of Intent—write a one-page letter expressing/indicating your future career goals related to the beef industry.
  • Write an original Essay—750 words or less describing an issue confronting the beef industry and offering a solution(s).
  • Provide two Letters of Recommendation—two letters of reference from current or former instructors or industry professionals.

Stokes Educational Scholarship Program

The Stokes Educational Scholarship Program facilitates the recruit- ment of high school seniors (particularly minority students) majoring in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, or the Chinese or Russian languages, who have demonstrated skills critical to the National Security Agency (NSA). As an NSA employee with the Stokes Program, you will attend college full time, receive up to $30,000 per year for tuition and mandatory fees and a year-round salary. You will work at NSA for 12 weeks during the summer in areas following graduation related to your course of study. If selected as a program participant and following graduation, you are required to work for NSA in your area of study, for at least one-and-one-half times your length of study.

 

Youth Wildlife Art Contest

The George Montgomery/NRA Youth Wildlife Art Contest is open to students grades 1 through 12 (including home-schooled children).  Entries must be signed by the artist and portray any North American game bird or animal that may be legally hunted or trapped. Endangered species and non-game animals, such as eagles and snakes, are not eligible subjects. To confirm whether a certain animal or bird is eligible, see this list of North American game animals and birds.  First, second and third place winners will be selected for each category and will be awarded $750, $500, $250 respectively. One entry will be selected to receive the Best In Show award and a $1,000 prize. Judges may also choose for a non-winning entry to receive an Honorable Mention award. All winning entries will be published on the NRABlog and in NRA Family.  Submissions for all artwork will be in digital form only. Preferred specs for submissions will be a minimum of 8½”x11″ with 300 DPI or higher resolution. Please include the entry form with your email to artcontest@nrahq.org.

 

10 Words or Less Scholarship

High school students applying for these scholarships must have completed one year at an accredited high school (student must therefore be a sophomore or older) and should have taken at least one photography or related art class.  High school, college and graduate students should have at least one semester remaining at time of award. Focus of work and entries: PHOTOJOURNALISM. Scholarships will be awarded to those students whose work “tells a story”. This is a fairly broad topic and may include a variety of subject matter and approaches (breaking news, sporting events, etc.) Please keep in mind, for the still photography submissions, that we are NOT looking for “art” photography.
