Personal Financial Literacy
The following students will need to report to Career Center on Wednesday, September 6, at the designated times. Students in Oklahoma are required to have documented knowledge of 14 units of personal financial literacy in order to earn an Oklahoma high school diploma. The required units can usually be completed within 4 or 5 sessions during the Fall semester (not offered in Spring semester). If a student misses a session, the student must attend the designated makeup session if wanting to complete this requirement through NWTC.
8:10 – 9:25 am session
- Landon Cook
9:30 – 10:45 am session
- Kole Campbell
Topics to cover on Day 1:
- Is your name spelled correctly on the list above?
- My name is Mrs. Frascht – pronounced like Frost.
- Always check in with your program instructor before coming to Career Center, especially if your Career Center session is at the beginning of the day or immediately after lunch.
- Photos – Digital Design class creates a NWTC Photo Directory each year. Did you get your photo taken yet?
- Seating – pick a seat to sit at all semester. No changing computers thru the semester if possible.
- You may wipe down keyboards and mouse before using if you wish…don’t rely on someone else to sanitize the area for you.
- Computer log ins – passwords for alvacc users on computers are alvacc and the computer number displayed on bottom left corner of monitor such as alvacc01.
- If prompted, do not run any updates on the computers.
- Only use Chrome for a browser during Career Center. Do not change any settings within Google Chrome.
- You will use Gmail and Google Drive within the browser to login but do NOT use the Chrome profile button. Confusing I know but there is a difference in what happens to the saved bookmarks. Do not log in to any Apple iCloud, Mac Mail or other personalization accounts except Google Drive (Sheets, Docs, etc.) and Gmail. Everyone uses the same Mac user account so please do not customize the user account to your settings which means do NOT add you Google profile setting. Do NOT change the Apple ID, Microsoft User or Adobe User account or computer settings.
- The Career Center is website – www.nwtech.edu/alvacc/. I will have announcements each week for you to refer to for instructions on the activities and necessary websites.
- Virtual Job Shadow will be used for career exploration and ICAP activities. Visit https://www.virtualjobshadow.com/login/AC5760/users/? and try to log in to your account. Most users enter first and last name with no spaces as username and the six digit number representing their birthdate as the password. An example of a password for someone with a birthdate of July 6, 2006 would be 060606.

- WorkKeys testing – Students will complete three ACT WorkKeys Career Readiness exams – Graphic Literacy, Workplace Documents, and Applied Math. For more information, visit http://nwtech.edu/alvacc/workkeys/.
