Shep’s Diner has openings for store clerks, cooks and Assistant Store Manager.  Clerks start at $11/hour, cooks start at $12/hour, and ASM pay depends on experience.  But the ASM position is full time with benefits available.  All positions require schedule flexibility.  ASM and clerks must be able to obtain and retain an alcohol license.  Applicants must be able to pass a background check and drug test.  For more information, visit Shep’s Diner.

Just a reminder…..Google Profile vs Google Drive

Just a reminder…. do NOT log in with Google Profile…. go to gmail.com or drive.google.com to log in please.  If you log in to Google Profile there is a big chance it will mess up all bookmarks I have made available for students.

Scholarships

I will periodically post scholarship information given to me.  You may view the scholarship information on the Career Center website (www.nwtech.edu/alvacc) by selecting Announcements on the menu then in the Categories box at the right of the page selecting the Scholarships box.  It may take a few seconds to load. You will have to click on the heading for each individual post to view all the information regarding a scholarship posted. You may also visit http://nwtech.edu/alvacc/category/scholarships/.

The scholarship application process in some instances requires a cover letter to be sent with the application.  If you need help with writing a cover letter, please visit with me.

Please be sure to have the following in the folder I created and Shared with you on Google Drive.  You may need to select Shared with Me on the left menu and then type alvacc in the Search bar at the top to find your folder within Google Drive.  You may need to create a folder on the desktop of the computer you are sitting at and then download some of these from Virtual Job Shadow to the folder on the desktop so you can upload them to the Google Drive.  Be sure to create appropriate and descriptive file name!

• Career Clusters Interest Survey in PDF format (from Virtual Job Shadow)
• O*Net Interest Profiler in PDF format (from Virtual Job Shadow)
• O*Net Work Importance Profiler in PDF format (from Virtual Job Shadow)
• Screen shot of the My Careers page within Virtual Job Shadow (Command + Shift + 4 to activate screen shot pointer and then drag around what you want to capture on the screen)
• Learning Styles Inventory results
• 16 Personalities results
• Updated Resume in Google Docs format as well as PDF format (File, Download, PDF).  You should have only one resume in your Google Drive folder unless there is a specific need for more.  The resumes (Google Doc and PDF) should have your name included in the file name.
• Cover letter. The cover letter  should have your name included in the file name.
