Superintendent’s Leadership Class – If you wish to participate in this year’s Superintendent’s Leadership Class activities be sure to submit your application by Friday, September 4 . Information is available at bottom of page of https://nwtech.edu/student-services/student-organizations/. Applicants must submit an application and 3 letters of recommendation by the September 4, 2026, deadline.
ODCTE Otha Grimes Scholarship – CareerTech adult students who can show a need may apply for the Otha Grimes scholarship. There is an online application that is due locally by September 9. Bring all your information about any scholarships, grants, assistance you are getting and bills you owe this fall semester if you want assistance. Information is available at https://oklahoma.gov/careertech/about/foundation/scholarships.html.
The Otha Grimes scholarship is available to adult students who are Oklahoma residents enrolled in a program at a Career and Technology Center. Applicants must submit applications online. Applicants must show need for assistance above grants, scholarships, etc.
- Amount: Varies
- Deadline: Each technology center district may impose its own deadline for its respective students. Students at the NWTC Alva Campus must have applications completed by February 9, 2026 unless additional time is granted by Mrs. Sonja Williams.
- Prior to starting the Application, students should download and complete the Otha Grimes Worksheet
- For students: Students should then download the Instructions before completing theApplication.
- The Enrollment Key for Northwest Tech students is wh4mpn and it is to be entered in the big box on the first page of CTYOU.org labeled Enrollment Code.
Information needed in the past included:
- All sources of financial aid income and scholarships. You may need to get this information from Mrs. Sonja Williams, Financial Aid Director.
- The amount of tuition and fees for your program which is dependent on full time or part time status. Tuition and fees is listed on the NWTC website at https://nwtech.edu/student-services/financial-aid-tuition/ or looking at the Cost of Attendance information. Remember if you are a full time student, you will divide the cost in half to get the cost for one semester. If you attend half day for two years, you will take the cost and divide by 4 to get the cost of one semester.
**Practical Nursing students have a different situation so this doesn’t apply to PN** - Mileage to and from the Alva Campus.There will be 85 days of instruction in the Fall 202 semester for all students except those in Practical Nursing. Practical Nursing students need to use estimates from Mrs. Williams if you are not on the Alva campus part of the semester.
- The NWTC Alva Campus calendar is available at https://nwtech.edu/about-nwtc/calendars/.
- You will have to calculate the number of miles you drive from home to the Alva Campus (1801 11th Street, Alva, OK) if you wish to submit mileage. Remember that is doubled if you drive to and from within a day. It is easiest to use Mapquest – https://www.mapquest.com/directions – to calculate this and then it is verified and not an estimate.
- You will use the IRS Standard Mileage Rates for 2026 to calculate mileage which is currently $0.76 for 2026. So you would take # of days x miles per day round trip x 0.76 to get the amount you are submitting for mileage (if you choose to include mileage).
- Items you may consider including into the expenses section include daycare, rent, and any special clothing or equipment (but you must be able to provide proof of payment).
NWTC Foundation Scholarship – Only adult students may apply for the NWTC Foundation Scholarship in the Fall semester. Information and application for the NWTC Foundation Scholarship is available athttps://nwtech.edu/student-services/financial-aid-tuition/. The application, transcripts, letter of recommendation and resume is due on Wednesday, September 9.
2026 Coca-Cola $20,000 Scholars Program Scholarship – The application is open for high school students graduating in the 2026-2027 academic year. The deadline to submit a full application is 5 p.m. Eastern on Tuesday, September 30, 2026. 10X Digital Scholarship – Are you a high school senior or undergraduate who is looking to offset the cost of your business, tech, marketing or communications degree? Apply for the 10X $4,000 digital marketing scholarship to be awarded Fall 2026. Scholarship application will have a due date in the Fall 2026. The Gates Scholarship –The Gates Scholarship (TGS) is a highly selective, last-dollar scholarship for outstanding high school seniors from low-income households. Each year, the scholarship is awarded to exceptional student leaders, with the intent of helping them realize their maximum potential. Scholars will receive funding for the full cost of attendance* that is not already covered by other financial aid and the Student Aid Index, as determined by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), or the methodology used by a Scholar’s college or university. An ideal candidate will have: An outstanding academic record in high school (in the top 10% of his/her graduating class), Demonstrated leadership ability (e.g., as shown through participation in community service, extracurricular, or other activities), Exceptional personal success skills (e.g., emotional maturity, motivation, perseverance, etc.) More information is available at https://www.thegatesscholarship.org/scholarship The deadline is September 15, 2026.

Oklahoma State University Thoma Scholars – Scholarship opportunity for rural students. The full-ride scholarship will cover the cost of attendance, including tuition, fees, housing, meals, books and other educational expenses for four years. Thoma Scholars will also receive a one-time study abroad scholarship. Deadline is January 15, 2027. Information is available at https://thomafoundation.org/become-a-thoma-scholar/.

How should you stay organized when applying for scholarships? It depends. Are you a paper person or a “I hate paper” person? If you are a “paper” person then get a large 3 ring binder and some divider sheets that you can label. Then print the scholarship information and put each scholarship in a different section in order by due date! If you are not a paper person, create a Google Drive folder and name it Scholarships and then create other folders for each scholarship you want to apply for. Be sure to put the date within the folder name such as Sept9-NWTC Foundation Scholarship. Then put copies of everything needed for that scholarship within that folder.
