Northwest Technology Center’s Practical Nursing (PN) students participated in a commencement ceremony on Friday, October 2. The students have completed their required coursework and clinical hours. The ceremony was conducted in front of over 100 family and friends of the graduates at Northwest Technology Center in the Seminar Room. Those completing included: Angela Carson, Verenis Cisneros, Kylie Clawson, Vanessa Kopf, Sariah Lux, Camryn Parks and Rebecca Ramos. Kopf was recognized with the highest grades in the class and was also recognized with a Perfect Attendance Award. Parks and Carson were also recognized for their academic achievements.
The Commencement Ceremony included each graduate receiving a diploma, the traditional “pinning” for nurses, recitation of the Nurse’s Creed, and a highlight slide show entitled, “Our Year”. The group selected NWTC’s Guidance Counselor, Karen Koehn as the keynote speaker. Koehn talked with the group and the audience about the difference that one person could make in the lives of others.
The group started the eleven month program in November of 2014. The program is approved by the Oklahoma Board of Nursing. Diane Duffy is the program’s director. Tara Thomas and Mary Miller serve as instructors. PN Class III has been selected and is slated to begin the program in early November.
