Practical Nursing Application and Admission Information


Application

Applications Accepted:  Begin Date: April 20.  We will accept applications until all spots are filled.

Spots Available: There are 12 spots in the upcoming class.

Orientation: Mandatory program orientation will be held in October on Thursday and Friday prior to the 1st day of class.

Classroom Location: Northwest Technology Center, Alva Campus

Clinical Location: various healthcare facilities in Alva, Fairview, Okeene and Enid.

Length of Program: 1463 clock hours, 11 months. 

Skills required:

  1. Desire to help others with their health care needs.
  2. Ability to read at a 12th grade level or above and understand technical material.
  3. Ability to perform basic algebra.
  4. Have a working knowledge of the proper use of a computer which includes use of internet search engines, word processing, reading online textbooks and complete assignments and tests online.

Required Documents:

  1. Official copy of your high school transcript or official GED.
  2. Official career tech or college transcripts.
  3. Current certified nursing assistant in long term care.
  4. Current AHA CPR certification.
  5. Copies of health care certificates
  6. Letter from employer verifying job experience. This letter needs to be on official business stationary.  It must include your name, date of employment and job duties.
  7. Vaccinations needed.
    • Covid
    • Influenza (Flu)
    • MMR
    • DPT
    • Varicella (Chicken Pox)
    • Hepatitis B series
    • Negative TB Test
    • *Titers acceptable in the absence of immunization record

TEAS Testing

Student who want to enroll in the Practical Nursing program must take the TEAS test prior to enrollment.  Click here to view TEAS testing dates for the Alva Campus and access the form to sign up for a test.

NWTC Practical Nursing Medical Terminology Course

Applicants may enroll online for the Medical Terminology Series: NWTC Practical Nursing course that is offered online.
