Students Inducted Into Honor Society
Fifty-four Northwest Technology Center students were inducted into the National Technical Honor Society earlier this month. The induction ceremony took place in the Seminar Room in front of a large crowd. Thirty-eight of the students were being inducted for the first time and sixteen students were returning inductees. Both secondary and post-secondary students who meet the requirements and are enrolled in Daytime Programs are eligible for membership in the organization.
“These students demonstrated outstanding performance in their respective programs during the past year as well as meeting the stringent requirements for membership!” said Colt Shaw, NWTC’s Assistant Superintendent on the Fairview campus. “It is truly an honor for a student to be inducted into this group. There are several standards that each student must meet including academic performance, attendance, program involvement and attitude.”
The event was planned by Jane Harris, Career Counselor on NWTC’s Fairview campus.
Returning inductees included: Mellissa Twyman, April Benoit, Erin Cusack, Dawson Haworth, April Kendrick, Shanna Lamle, Derek Forney, Christina Meeks, Hunter Tsatigh, Laura Setser, Ashley Tucker, Hector Lucas, Taryn Sessions, Taylor Jones, Daniel Navarro, and Diego Silva.
First time inductees included: Colby Fenton, Aaron Hernandez, Keaton Littleton, Tanner Morawski, Karen Arambula, Isabell Campos, Kenny Goddard, Alicia RedHat, Karley Boyer, Alex Gaines, Capri Gahr, Olivia Harris, Michelyn Hurrieta, Kara Schlotthauer, Justine Smith, Lance Vowell, Destinie Leathers and Paige Reeves.
Others being inducted for the first time were: Braden Deutschendorf, Brenna Flanary, Cale Harmon, Ethan Hayes, Doug Hill, Jarod Icke, Calen Mayer, Baylee Sharp, Taylor Sharp, Andrew Thomas, Taylor Fitzsimmons, Lauren Goodson, Kara Hamen, Daphne Madrid, Stephanie Madrid, Alisha Peterson, Justice Tautfest, Tristen Cantellay, Tristan Miller, and Jacob Ross.
Students must be nominated for membership in the National Technical Honor Society by an instructor, an advisor and an administrator. Their application must be approved by the local Chapter Advisors, the nominating instructor and a school administrator. Students who are inducted have maintained an “A” average and have been absent for fewer than five days during the current semester.
Other criteria include: honesty, service, leadership, career development, academics and skilled workmanship. The purpose of the organization is to foster the pursuit of educational and career goals to develop greater awareness within our community about the talents and abilities of students engaged in career and technology education, to provide career and technology education and to provide career and technology students a greater awareness of the world of work.
