DOC Recognized As Partner For Progress By OATC

Representatives of the Department of Corrections (DOC) were recognized recently as a Partner for Progress by the Oklahoma Association of Technology Centers at a luncheon held at the Oklahoma History Center in Oklahoma City. The DOC, specifically, Bill Johnson Correctional Center, James Crabtree Correctional Center and the William S. Key Correctional Center and Northwest Technology Center (NWTC) have formed a partnership to provide a Northwest Oklahoma Correctional Officers Academy to train entry level personnel for these facilities.  Many of those trained could not attend a lengthy training further away because of the distance traveled and commitments to family.  The officer academy provides this training locally for this workforce.  This partnerships helps the DOC in this area to recruit and retain employees.  Those pictured (l to r) include:   Dr. Gerald Harris, NWTC Superintendent, Andrea Jordan, NW Region Training Specialist, Phil Gilstrap, DOC Training Supervisor, Abigail McElfresh, DOC Training Supervisor, Greg Thomas, DOC Chief Administrator, Charlotte Hadwiger, NWTC Business and Industry Services Director-Alva and Daren Slater, NWTC Assistant Superintendent-Alva.
