The Biomedical Sciences program is for high school students only. It is a two-year academy that will emphasize biomedical knowledge and projects as well as academics. The academics will prepare the students to transition into the medical field of study in post-secondary education. Upon completion of the AP courses, the student will be able to test for college credit in those subjects.
Biomedical Sciences uses Project Lead The Way (PLTW) curriculum to enhance student learning in the fields of biology, anatomy, advanced mathematics and technology. The curriculum is hands-on and scenario based to allow students an opportunity to apply their knowledge and problem solving skills to complete a task. While Biomedical Sciences leans toward careers in the medical field, any student interested in a career in medicine, engineering, technology or education will benefit from the skills learned in this class.
