Structural Welder – Fairview Campus


The Structural Welder Introduction career option covers fundamental of the SMAW welding process, plasma arc, air carbon arc, and oxy-fuel cutting processes, metal preparation and heat treatments, as well as, workforce staging. Students will be engaged in hands-on training in the shop approximately 70% of the time.

Helpful Attributes and Abilities:

  • Reading, language and math skills at the 10th grade level or above
  • An ability to compute percentages, measurements and simple fractions
  • A basic knowledge of general science
  • Good eye-hand coordination

Career Opportunities May Include: Entry level position in a Fabrication Welding Shop or Repair/Fabrication welding in Oil & Gas Industry.

Certifications/Credentials: Students in the Welding Technology program are eligible to earn WorkKeys Certifications through the Career Center. Certifications can also be obtained from the Oklahoma Department of Labor after completing a supervised certified weld test.

Accreditations: NWTC is accredited by the Oklahoma State Department of Education, The Oklahoma Department of Career and Technology Education and the Oklahoma Department of Labor.
