Northwest Technology Center’s Automotive Technology Program is a leader in the nationally recognized Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification program. The main areas of focus in the Automotive Technology program are to help students learn and diagnose problems in six areas of ASE certification. These areas include engine repair, engine performance, HVAC, steering and suspension, brakes and electrical systems. Learning the scientific concepts behind components and learning diagnostic and repair procedures are reinforced through classroom and lab instruction. The goal of the program is for students to master all aspects of modern, computer-based vehicle repair and diagnosis and to train for entry level employment in the automotive field.
Automotive Service Technician Career Option
Students in Automotive Service Technician career option will learn about the various types of steering and suspension systems, how to diagnose them and how to perform alignments. Students will also cover wheel service techniques such as, how to mount/dismount tires, wheel balancing, and tire repairs. They will also learn how to do general electrical system diagnosis, learn electrical theory, perform basic tests and then determine necessary action.The hours completed in this career option are aligned with ASE/NATEF standards, and ASE certification is recommended and industry recognized.

Accreditations: NWTC is accredited by the Oklahoma State Department of Education and the Oklahoma Department of Career and Technology Education. NWTC’s Auto Tech program is also accredited by ASE and NATEF.
