The Biomedical Sciences program is for high school students only. It is a two-year academy that will emphasize biomedical knowledge and projects as well as academics. The academics will prepare the students to transition into the medical field of study in post-secondary education. Students also have the opportunity to earn college credit by taking concurrent General Biology/College Algebra.
Biomedical Sciences uses Project Lead The Way (PLTW) curriculum to enhance student learning in the fields of biology, anatomy, advanced mathematics and technology. The curriculum is hands-on and scenario based to allow students an opportunity to apply their knowledge and problem solving skills to complete a task. While Biomedical Sciences leans toward careers in the medical field, any student interested in a career in medicine, engineering, technology or education will benefit from the skills learned in this class.
