Students in the Automotive Service Technician career major will learn about the various types of steering and suspension systems, electrical systems, brake systems, engine repair, engine performance, and air conditioning. They will also learn how to do general system diagnosis, learn theory and perform basic tests and then determine necessary action. The hours completed in this major are aligned with ASE/NATEF standards, and ASE certification is recommended and industry recognized.
Length of Program
Automotive Technology is a 1 year, full-day program or a 2 year, half-day program for a total of 960 hours.
Eligible Students
This program is open to secondary as well as post-secondary students.
Certifications
ASE Student Certification tests as well as State Competency Tests are available with this program. Instruction is provided in preparation for ASE Certification.

The students are encouraged to participate in the SkillsUSA organization which promotes leadership development and skill competition at the state and national levels.
