{"id":9999,"date":"2026-08-24T09:01:06","date_gmt":"2026-08-24T14:01:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nwtech.edu\/alvacc\/?p=9999"},"modified":"2026-08-24T09:01:06","modified_gmt":"2026-08-24T14:01:06","slug":"scholarship-update-8-24-26","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nwtech.edu\/alvacc\/scholarship-update-8-24-26\/","title":{"rendered":"Scholarship Update 8.24.26"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Superintendent\u2019s Leadership Class \u2013\u00a0<\/strong>If you wish to participate in this year\u2019s Superintendent\u2019s Leadership Class activities be sure to submit your application by Friday, September 4 . \u00a0Information is available at bottom of page of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/nwtech.edu\/student-services\/student-organizations\/\">https:\/\/nwtech.edu\/student-services\/student-organizations\/<\/a><strong>. \u00a0<\/strong>Applicants must submit an application and 3 letters of recommendation by the September 4, 2026, deadline. \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>ODCTE Otha Grimes Scholarship<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 CareerTech adult students who can show a need may apply for the Otha Grimes scholarship. \u00a0There is an online application that is due locally by September 9.\u00a0Bring all your information about any scholarships, grants, assistance you are getting and bills you owe this fall semester if you want assistance. \u00a0Information is available at\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/oklahoma.gov\/careertech\/about\/foundation\/scholarships.html\">https:\/\/oklahoma.gov\/careertech\/about\/foundation\/scholarships.html<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Otha Grimes scholarship is available to\u00a0<em>adult<\/em>\u00a0students who are Oklahoma residents enrolled in a program at a Career and Technology Center.\u00a0<strong>Applicants must submit applications online. Applicants must show need for assistance above grants, scholarships, etc.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Amount:<\/strong>\u00a0Varies<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Deadline:<\/strong>\u00a0Each technology center district may impose its own deadline for its respective students. Students at the NWTC Alva Campus must have applications completed by February 9, 2026 unless additional time is granted by Mrs. Sonja Williams.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Prior to starting\u00a0 the Application, students should download and complete the\u00a0\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/nwtech.edu\/alvacc\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/Otha-Grimes-Francis-Tuttle-Scholarhip-Worksheet-081722.docx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Otha Grimes Worksheet<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>For students:<\/strong>\u00a0 Students should then download the\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/oklahoma.gov\/content\/dam\/ok\/en\/careertech\/about\/foundation\/otha-grimes-scholarship-instructions-student-120523.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Instructions<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>before completing the<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/ctyou.org\/course\/view.php?id=5750\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Application.<\/a><\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The\u00a0<strong>Enrollment Key<\/strong>\u00a0for Northwest Tech students is\u00a0<strong>wh4mpn<\/strong>\u00a0and it is to be entered in the big box on the first page of\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/ctyou.org\/\">CTYOU.org<\/a>\u00a0labeled Enrollment Code.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Information needed in the&nbsp;past&nbsp;included:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>All sources of financial aid income and scholarships.\u00a0You may need to get this information from Mrs. Sonja Williams, Financial Aid Director.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The amount of tuition and fees for your program which is dependent on full time or part time status. Tuition and fees is listed on the NWTC website at\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/nwtech.edu\/student-services\/financial-aid-tuition\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">https:\/\/nwtech.edu\/student-services\/financial-aid-tuition\/<\/a>\u00a0or looking at the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/nwtech.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/NWTC_COA2425.Updated.6.11.2024.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Cost of Attendance information<\/a>. Remember if you are a\u00a0 full time student, you will divide the cost in half to get the cost for one semester. If you attend half day for two years, you will take the cost and divide by 4 to get the cost of one semester.<br>**Practical Nursing students have a different situation so this doesn\u2019t apply to PN**<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Mileage to and from the Alva Campus.There will be 85 days of instruction in the Fall 202 semester for all students except those in Practical Nursing.\u00a0 Practical Nursing students need to use estimates from Mrs. Williams if you are not on the Alva campus part of the semester.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The NWTC Alva Campus calendar is available at\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/nwtech.edu\/about-nwtc\/calendars\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">https:\/\/nwtech.edu\/about-nwtc\/calendars\/<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You will have to calculate the number of miles you drive from home to the Alva Campus (1801 11th Street, Alva, OK) if you wish to submit mileage. Remember that is doubled if you drive to and from within a day. It is easiest to use Mapquest \u2013\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.mapquest.com\/directions\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">https:\/\/www.mapquest.com\/directions<\/a>\u00a0\u2013 to calculate this and then it is verified and not an estimate.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You will use the IRS Standard Mileage Rates for 2026 to calculate mileage which is currently $0.76 for 2026.\u00a0 So you would take # of days x miles per day round trip x 0.76 to get the amount you are submitting for mileage (if you choose to include mileage).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Items you may consider including into the expenses section include daycare, rent, and any special clothing or equipment (but you must be able to provide proof of payment).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>NWTC Foundation Scholarship \u2013 \u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>Only adult students may apply for the NWTC Foundation Scholarship in the Fall semester.\u00a0Information and application for the NWTC Foundation Scholarship is available at<a href=\"https:\/\/nwtech.edu\/student-services\/financial-aid-tuition\/\">https:\/\/nwtech.edu\/student-services\/financial-aid-tuition\/<\/a>. \u00a0 The application, transcripts, letter of recommendation and resume is due on Wednesday, September 9.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>2026 Coca-Cola $20,000 Scholars Program Scholarship \u2013\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0The application is open for high school students graduating in the 2026-2027 academic year.\u00a0The\u00a0deadline to submit a full application is 5 p.m. Eastern on Tuesday, September 30, 2026. \u00a0To learn more visit \u2013\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/connect.coca-colascholars.org\/selectionroadmap\">https:\/\/connect.coca-colascholars.org\/selectionroadmap<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/webportalapp.com\/sp\/login\/ccsf\">https:\/\/webportalapp.com\/sp\/login\/ccsf<\/a>\u00a0.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>10X Digital Scholarship<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013\u00a0Are you a high school senior or undergraduate who is looking to offset the cost of your business, tech, marketing or communications degree? You may create a copy for you and then delete the information you don\u2019t need and track the scholarships you do want to apply for!!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">How should you stay organized when applying for scholarships? \u00a0It depends. \u00a0Are you a paper person or a \u201cI hate paper\u201d person? \u00a0If you are a \u201cpaper\u201d person then get a large 3 ring binder and some divider sheets that you can label. \u00a0Then print the scholarship information and put each scholarship in a different section in order by due date! \u00a0If you are not a paper person, create a Google Drive folder and name it Scholarships and then create other folders for each scholarship you want to apply for. \u00a0Be sure to put the date within the folder name such as Sept9-NWTC Foundation Scholarship.
