The application can be completed online at <a href=\"https:\/\/ossba.us8.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u=a654b89867fe89b24cb1c924f&amp;id=941b384092&amp;e=9a56412398\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">ossba.org\/scholarship<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>To qualify, the candidate:<\/p>\n<ul role=\"list\">\n<li role=\"listitem\" aria-setsize=\"-1\">Must be a high school student who will earn a diploma from an Oklahoma public high school during the 2024-25 school year.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul role=\"list\">\n<li role=\"listitem\" aria-setsize=\"-1\">Must have plans to pursue a degree at an accredited Oklahoma college, university or career technology center beginning in the fall of 2025.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul role=\"list\">\n<li role=\"listitem\" aria-setsize=\"-1\">Must have a minimum 3.0 unweighted high school GPA<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul role=\"list\">\n<li role=\"listitem\" aria-setsize=\"-1\">Preferred &#8211; Have a minimum 20 ACT or 1040 SAT score<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul role=\"list\">\n<li role=\"listitem\" aria-setsize=\"-1\">Must plan to major in education<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul role=\"list\">\n<li role=\"listitem\" aria-setsize=\"-1\">Must plan to be an Oklahoma educator<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Financial need will also be considered.<\/p>\n<p>Children or grandchildren of OSSBA employees, officers, or board of director members, as well as international students, high school graduates and temporary residents, are ineligible to receive the scholarship.<\/p>\n<p>The successful student will be notified of his or her selection by mid-March. With permission from the district, a representative of the OSSBA Foundation will present the student with the scholarship during the school\u2019s spring award or class day assembly.<\/p>\n<p>This scholarship honors the memory and legacy of Dr. Bob Mooneyham, who began his career as a teacher, coach and guidance counselor, before becoming a school superintendent and college professor. He served as executive director of OSSBA for 25 years \u2013 from 1975 to 2000. From the capitol to the classroom, he was a respected and caring professional who made a difference in the lives of students across the state.<\/p>\n<p>Mooneyham, who passed away in 2012, is honored annually during the OSSBA Bob Mooneyham Memorial Golf Tournament. Proceeds from the tournament are used to fund the scholarship in his name. Tuition and fees is listed on the NWTC website at\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/nwtech.edu\/student-services\/financial-aid-tuition\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">https:\/\/nwtech.edu\/student-services\/financial-aid-tuition\/<\/a> or looking at the <a href=\"https:\/\/nwtech.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/NWTC_COA2425.Updated.6.11.2024.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Cost of Attendance information<\/a>. Remember if you are a\u00a0 full time student, you will divide the cost in half to get the cost for one semester. If you attend half day for two years, you will take the cost and divide by 4 to get the cost of one semester.<\/li>\n<li>Mileage to and from the Alva Campus.There will be 90 days of instruction in the Fall 2024 semester for all students except those in Practical Nursing.\u00a0 Practical Nursing students need to use estimates from Mrs. Williams if you are not on the Alva campus part of the semester.\n<ul>\n<li>The NWTC Alva Campus calendar is available at\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/nwtech.edu\/about-nwtc\/calendars\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">https:\/\/nwtech.edu\/about-nwtc\/calendars\/<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>You will have to calculate the number of miles you drive from home to the Alva Campus (1801 11th Street, Alva, OK) if you wish to submit mileage. Remember that is doubled if you drive to and from within a day. It is easiest to use Mapquest &#8211;\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.mapquest.com\/directions\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">https:\/\/www.mapquest.com\/directions<\/a> &#8211; to calculate this and then it is verified and not an estimate.<\/li>\n<li>You will use the IRS Standard Mileage Rates for 2024 to calculate mileage which is currently $0.70 for 2025.\u00a0 So you would take # of days x miles per day round trip x 0.70 to get the amount you are submitting for mileage (if you choose to include mileage).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Items you may consider including into the expenses section include daycare, rent, and any special clothing or equipment (but you must be able to provide proof of payment).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>NWTC Foundation Scholarship<\/strong> <strong>&#8211; Due 2.10.25<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Information available at\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/nwtech.edu\/alvacc\/nwtc-foundation-scholarship-feb25\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">https:\/\/nwtech.edu\/alvacc\/nwtc-foundation-scholarship-feb25\/<\/a>. Students must submit the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>typed application<\/li>\n<li>copy of resume<\/li>\n<li>letter of recommendation<\/li>\n<li>copies of transcripts<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>OG&amp;E Positive Energy Scholarship &#8211; Due 2.15.25<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>To be eligible for a Positive Energy Scholarship, students must:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>be a graduating high school senior from the OG&amp;E service area<\/li>\n<li>attend college in Oklahoma or Arkansas<\/li>\n<li>have an unweighted cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.25<\/li>\n<li>receive an ACT score of greater than or equal to 25 and\/or SAT score greater than or equal to 1200<\/li>\n<li>students must pursue and maintain one of the listed STEM majors<\/li>\n<li>view the additional requirements and deadlines at <a href=\"https:\/\/oge.com\/education\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">OGE.com\/education<\/a> .<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Organization of Rural Schools of Oklahoma Scholarship<\/strong>\u00a0&#8211; Due to Mrs. Frascht (do not submit online) by 2.19.25<\/p>\n<p>Northwest Tech (Alva and Fairview Campuses combined) can submit one Quadrant application and one child of a School Employee application for Northwest Technology Center.\u00a0 OROS raised the scholarship awards to $2500.\u00a0 The OROS Scholarship applications for seniors of member schools are now available online at\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.orosok.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">https:\/\/www.orosok.org\/<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>Applications must be submitted to Mrs. Tami Frascht at the Alva Campus by Wednesday, February 19, 2025<\/em>.<\/span>\u00a0 A committee from NWTC will select the two applications to be submitted from NWTC by Mr. Daren Slater.\u00a0 Applications must be typewritten or application will not be considered.\u00a0 To make the application process easier, we have added the option of downloading a form, filling it out on your computer, typing the essay on your computer, printing all of it.\u00a0 After printing it, the student needs to sign and attach a copy of the transcript before submitting to\u00a0Mrs. Tami Frascht at the Alva Campus or Mrs. Kay Koehn at the Fairview Campus.<\/p>\n<p>The form may be accessed on the OROS webpage at\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.orosok.org\/\">https:\/\/www.orosok.<\/a>\u00a0 Click on the scholarship link on the left side of the home page and that will take you to the form options.\u00a0 Follow the instructions under each option.\u00a0 The board of directors have implemented the new rule that all applications must be typewritten.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>Applications must be submitted locally to be considered as an NWTC applicant for the scholarships\u2026. Do NOT mail your applications to OROS.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ann Wade Scholarship &#8211; Due March 7, 2025<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Oklahoma ASBO\u00a0is will grant a one-time $2,000 per year ($1,000 per academic semester) scholarship to a graduating high school senior who plans to pursue a certified degree in education or in an occupation that directly supports the educational system. This scholarship is ongoing and will be available for both the spring and fall semesters each year.<\/p>\n<p>Those students who have exceptional drive and ambition should submit a 700-1500 word essay here telling us who you are and how you plan on using your automotive education to incite positive change and innovation within the custom car industry. All entries must be submitted as a PDF or Microsoft Word document to be eligible for consideration and must also be accompanied by proof of current enrollment in an accredited United States college or university.<\/p>\n<p>Please submit your essays by 12:00PM EST on October 15th for all spring semester applicants and by June 15th for all fall applicants. Winning scholarships will be paid directly to the school as a tuition payment.<\/p>\n<p>Winners will be selected by November 15th for all spring contestants and by July 15th for fall applicants.<\/p>\n<p>This is a permanent program that is offered every year and is open for submissions each spring and fall semester!<\/p>\n<p>Only students currently enrolled full-time in an American college, Canadian colleges, Automotive Engineering programs, Trade schools, technical institute, or high school seniors planning to attend a college or post-secondary institution are eligible to be awarded a scholarship through this program.<\/p>\n<p>AmericanMuscle Student Scholarships are non-renewable, however, winning applicants may re-enter in future contests by writing and resubmitting a new essay.
