This financial assistance may include books, tuition, and other educational costs. The Foundation Scholarship committee assists in the establishment of scholarships and the selection of the recipients.<\/p>\n<p>Adults, juniors and seniors may apply for the Spring NWTC Foundation Scholarships. After completing the application and saving it, move the file to the Shared Folder I created for you on Google Drive.\u00a0 Scholarship <strong><em>applications should be submitted to the front office by January 15.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>For more information about NWTC Foundation Scholarships, please contact Melinda Barton, Marketing and Foundation Director at 580-327-0344.<\/p>\n<h3>Northwest Tech Tuition Waiver<\/h3>\n<p>The NW Tech Tuition Waiver allows 75% of tuition costs to be waived for eligible students.\u00a0\u00a0The student will be responsible for program fees as well as the remaining amount of tuition.\u00a0In order to be eligible for the tuition waiver, adult students must either currently reside in the NWTC district OR have graduated from an in-district high school or have successfully completed a high school equivalency diploma, while residing in the NWTC district.The NW Tech Tuition Waiver can be used within 3 school years from the time of high school graduation or receiving the high school equivalency diploma.\u00a0 The student may choose to attend NWTC half-time or full-time within the 3 school year timeframe.\u00a0 The NW Tech Tuition Waiver can be used towards tuition for one Career Option within a daytime Career Program.\u00a0 Waiver awards will vary depending upon the length of the Career Option chosen by the student. One of the goals of OAMCTE is to promote and encourage minority students to pursue training and careers in the Career and Technology Education system. Any high school junior or senior of a minority race who is currently enrolled in a Career and Technology Education class or program may participate in the essay writing contest.\u00a0 One $250 award will be given to the winning entry.<\/p>\n<p>For more information, download the <a href=\"http:\/\/nwtech.edu\/alvacc\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/OAMCTE-Essay-Contest-2020-2021-.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">OAMCTE Essay Contest Poster for 2020-2021<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3>The Casy Cundiff Scholarship<\/h3>\n<p>The Casy Cundiff Scholarship Sponsored by OkACTE Education Services\/Special Populations (ESSP).\u00a0The Oklahoma Association of Career and Technology Education (OkACTE)\/Education Services Special Populations (ESSP) is offering a student the financial scholarship award to acknowledge the achievement of a career and technology student(s) who is a person with a disability and has overcome barriers to achieve his\/her highest potential for success. The purpose for this student scholarship is to assist the student in accessing or completing a career and technology education career major or entering into the occupation for which he\/she has trained. Up to 2 scholarship awards between $250 and $500 will be made depending upon funds available and number of scholarship awards presented. This opportunity is open to any high school varsity athlete that attends a public or private high school in the state of Oklahoma. The PAF Scholarship rewards high school athletes for their non-athletic achievements and assists them in achieving their career goals. The PAF Scholarship is designed for any high school athlete who will attend a university, college or two-year institution and will not receive any type of athletic scholarship.\u00a0All applications must be received by\u00a0Jan. 31, 2021.<\/p>\n<p>To request the application packet, contact Jean Barrett at\u00a0<a id=\"LPlnk156123\" href=\"mailto:jbarrettinc@aol.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-auth=\"NotApplicable\">jbarrettinc@aol.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3>Ragland Family Foundation Scholarship<\/h3>\n<p>The purpose of the Ragland Family Education Foundation Scholarship Program is to provide financial assistance to Oklahoma students with limited educational funding who want to obtain a college degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM)*. The scholarship program intends to grant up to $20,000 each in scholarship awards to qualified and deserving students in 2021.\u00a0 Awards will be announced in May 2021. To date, the scholarship program has awarded $200,000 in grants to students in Oklahoma.\u00a0\u00a0Application deadline is March 15, 2021.<\/p>\n<p>For more information regarding the scholarship, visit <a href=\"https:\/\/www.raglandfamilyfoundation.com\/what-we-do\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">https:\/\/www.raglandfamilyfoundation.com\/what-we-do<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3>Indian Health Services Scholarship<\/h3>\n<p>Indian Health Services offers scholarships for several health profession undergraduate and graduate programs for students beginning as early as their sophomore year of Pre-Nursing, enrolled in a bachelors degree granting program or above.\u00a0 Students do not need to be admitted to a program in order to apply\/be awarded the scholarship. However, by the beginning of the Fall semester, students will need to be admitted to a program in order to begin receiving IHS funding.<\/p>\n<p>The IHS Scholarship Program pays for tuition and required fees (calculated by the educational institution) directly applicable to a students approved curriculum and scholarship requirements. Required fees include lab, health unit, and parking permit fees. Additionally, IHS supports all scholarship recipients with a monthly stipend covering reasonable living expenses. Health Professions scholarship recipients will receive the stipend for a 12-month period, while Preparatory and Pre-Graduate scholarship recipients will receive the stipend for 10 months.<\/p>\n<p>IHS will also pay for required books, laboratory expenses, dental\/medical\/optometric\/etc. equipment and other miscellaneous educational expenses. Please be aware that the scholarships have been limited to Juniors and Seniors in undergraduate school with the exception of Sophomores going into a Pre-Nursing degree track and above.<\/p>\n<p>To qualify for a Health Professions scholarship, applicants must also meet specific eligibility requirements by the start of the academic year for which the scholarship is awarded:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u00a0Have a minimum GPA of 2.0.<u><\/u><u><\/u><\/li>\n<li>Capable of completing a health profession degree program.<u><\/u><u><\/u><\/li>\n<li>Committed to serving Indian people as a health professional in your chosen specialty.<u><\/u><u><\/u><\/li>\n<li>Be willing to sign an Indian Health Service Scholarship Program Contract (IHS-818) agreeing to a minimum two-year service commitment to practice at an Indian health facility upon completion of your academic and\/or post-graduate training.<u><\/u><u><\/u><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The IHS Scholarship Application Handbook can be found at:<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ihs.gov\/scholarship\/handbooks\/application_handbook.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">https:\/\/www.ihs.gov\/scholarship\/handbooks\/application_handbook.pdf<\/a><\/p>\n<p>I would recommend interested students read the handbook to familiarize themselves with the application process for the future. The number of grants awarded annually is at the discretion of the Foundation and must be used for educational expenses in the first year of full-time study.
