\nQUALIFICATIONS
\nGraduate from accredited school of nursing
\nHold a current Kansas Registered Nurse license
\nMaintain required 30 units of Continue Education every two years.
\nHave comprehensive knowledge of infection control practices, safe lifting practices, and caring for patients of any age group.
\nWillingness to participate in in-service training.
\nHave good physical and mental health.<\/p>\n

RESPONSIBILITIES<\/p>\n
The Registered Nurse is directly responsible for the care and supervision of patients and personnel and in the emergency room and nursing unit.
\nEstablishes a compassionate environment by providing emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients, friends, and families.
\nPromotes patient’s independence by establishing patient care goals; teaching patient, friends, and family to understand condition, medications, and self-care skills; answering questions.
\nAssures quality of care by adhering to therapeutic standards; measuring health outcomes against patient care goals and standards; making or recommending necessary adjustments; following hospital and nursing division’s philosophies and standards of care set by the Kansas Board of Nursing and Kansas Nurse Practice Act.
\nResolves patient problems and needs by utilizing multidisciplinary team strategies.
\nMaintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations, and calling for assistance from health care support personnel.
\nProtects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols, medication administration and storage procedures, and controlled substance regulations.
\nDocuments patient care services by charting in Nextgen Clinical Electronic Medical Record.
\nMaintains continuity among nursing teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
\nMaintains patient confidence and protects operations by keeping information confidential.
\nEnsures operation of equipment by completing hospital required educational opportunities; following manufacturer’s instructions; reporting needed repairs to maintenance; maintaining equipment inventories; evaluating new equipment and techniques.
\nMaintains nursing supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed supplies; placing and expediting orders for supplies; verifying receipt of supplies; using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results and restocking as needed.
\nMaintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
\nMaintains a cooperative relationship among health care teams by communicating information; responding to requests; building rapport; participating in team problem-solving methods.
\nAdhere to patient rights and confidentiality regulations.
