{"id":1765,"date":"2019-09-23T01:06:58","date_gmt":"2019-09-23T06:06:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/nwtech.edu\/alvacc\/?p=1765"},"modified":"2019-09-23T08:08:20","modified_gmt":"2019-09-23T13:08:20","slug":"computers-business-9-23-19","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nwtech.edu\/alvacc\/computers-business-9-23-19\/","title":{"rendered":"Computers &#038; Business ~ 9.23.19"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>You will not be taking any WorkKeys assessments today.\u00a0 Your next assessment will be in two weeks.\u00a0If you were not in class last week to take the WorkKeys Workplace Documents exam, I will be offering a makeup day in a few weeks for any WorkKeys tests missed.<\/p>\n<p>You should have also taken on out of three of the WorkKeys assessments.\u00a0 I have placed a Score Report file in the Shared folder on the Google Drive for each of you.\u00a0 So how do your scores relate to occupations you are interested in?\u00a0\u00a0To find out more about specific careers and their skills requirements, check out the ACT\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.keytrain.com\/link\/profile-search.asp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">job\u00a0profiles\u00a0database<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>You can also learn more about each individual assessment thru the links below:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Applied Math \u2013 For more information about the Applied Math assessment \u2013\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.act.org\/content\/act\/en\/products-and-services\/workkeys-for-educators\/assessments\/applied-math.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">click here<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Graphic Literacy \u2013 For more information about the Graphic Literacy assessment \u2013\u00a0\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.act.org\/content\/act\/en\/products-and-services\/workkeys-for-educators\/assessments\/graphic-literacy.html#scrollNav-3\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">click here<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Workplace Documents \u2013 For more information about the Workplace Documents assessment \u2013\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.act.org\/content\/act\/en\/products-and-services\/workkeys-for-educators\/assessments\/workplace-documents.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">click here<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This week you will be creating an account with OkCareerGuide.\u00a0 When creating your user account please use the format FirstLast-nwtc as your username and use the same password as your WorkKeys account which is a six digit number representing the month, day and year of your birthday. Be sure to record this information in the Usernames and Passwords Google Sheet I created for you in the Shared Folder with your name and Career Center.<\/p>\n<p>You will take the following assessments in OkCareerGuide:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Kuder Career Interests Assessment: This assessment connects students top interests to career paths.\u00a0 Students rate how much they would like or dislike each activity. When students are finished with the assessment, their highest interests will be matched with careers that they may enjoy. Upon completion of this assessment, a report is generated which lists five \u201cTop Career Pathways\u201d based on the students responses.<\/li>\n<li>Kuder Skills Confidence Assessment: This tool assessed what students believe they are good at doing.\u00a0 Students rate how confident they are that they can accomplish each activity. When they are finished, they review the skills they have and explore careers that need those skills.<\/li>\n<li>Super Work Values Inventory: Students rate how important work-related values are to them. When they are finished, their values will be matched with careers that they may enjoy.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Your\u00a0assessment results\u00a0will show you what your interests, skills and work values are and how to apply them to a career plan for your future.\u00a0 Please let me know when you have completed the three assessments and I will create a PDF of the results and place in the Shared Google Drive.<\/p>\n<p>I have either added a MS Word file named iCAP Planning Document Part 1 to the Shared Folder for Career Center on the Google Drive or provided you a link to the MS Word file and save it to your folder in the Documents folder on the hard drive of the computer you are using.\u00a0 Enter the requested information as you complete the iCAP planning activities using the OK Career Guide you create.\u00a0 Returning students will complete the activity and MS Word document using the account they created last year.\u00a0 There is a link to the OK Career Guide website under the Enhancement menu.<\/p>\n<p>At this point you should have completed the Learning Styles Inventory and Assessment (Google form).\u00a0 You should have created a PDF and saved it in the Shared folder in Google Drive as well as the folder on your computer hard drive. Next week you will be printing a copy of these and placing it in a Portfolio you will be starting.<\/p>\n<p>Returning students&#8230; What documents have you uploaded to the OKCareerGuide?\u00a0 Have you uploaded all the files from last year such as your resume, cover letter, job applications, etc.\u00a0 Have you uploaded the Learning Styles Inventory from this year?
