WorkKeys National Career Readiness Certification:<\/h3>\n

What were your scores for the three WorkKeys assessments?\u00a0 How do those scores compare to the profile for your desired career?\u00a0 We will analyze and answer those questions in part by completing the\u00a0WorkKeys Completion Assignment<\/a>.\u00a0 I have added a copy of that MS Word file to the folder I have created for you and shared with you on Google Drive.\u00a0 You will need to open that file in Google Docs and complete all sections.\u00a0 I will review with you where to find the information.\u00a0 Upon completion of the assignment, you will\u00a0print<\/strong>\u00a0one copy for me after being sure to save a copy in the shared Google drive.<\/p>\n

Resumes<\/h3>\n

Have you created a resume in an easy to read professional format?\u00a0 You should include a heading at the top of the resume that includes full name, full address, phone number and email address.\u00a0 Sections of your resume may include qualification summary, education, licensure, work experience, additional skills, professional memberships, community activities, honors and awards, and references.\u00a0\u00a0Be sure to use formatting that allows the reader to easily distinguish between the different sections.\u00a0 Proofread your final copy.\u00a0 Sometimes it is easier to download a document and work in Microsoft Word and then re-upload to the Google Drive than utilize Google Docs.\u00a0 You may choose whichever method is easiest for you.\u00a0 Links to sample resumes are available on the\u00a0Resumes page \u2013\u00a0\u2013\u00a0 (http:\/\/nwtech.edu\/alvacc\/resumes\/<\/a>) \u2013\u00a0 of the Career Center website.<\/p>\n

  1. Put a copy of your resume in stored in the Google Drive folder I have created for you!\u00a0 Do not \u201cshare\u201d your resume with me from a different folder.\u00a0 You may need to download it and then drag it into that folder I created but have a copy of your resume stored in the folder I have shared with you.<\/em><\/strong><\/li>\n
  2. Put the most important sections towards the top of the resume.<\/strong><\/em><\/li>\n
  3. Put most recent information within the section at the top of the section.<\/strong><\/em><\/li>\n
  4. Include certifications such as WorkKeys National Career Readiness Certificate (if you scored at least a three or higher on the WorkKeys tests)<\/strong><\/em><\/li>\n
  5. Include Northwest Technology Center (not Alva Votech\u00a0 or Northwestern Technology Center) and your program name in the education section.<\/strong><\/em><\/li>\n
  6. Include National Technical Honor Society in the organizations if you were inducted this year and\/or last year.<\/em><\/strong><\/li>\n
  7. Use an easy to read font but not the standard Times New Roman that many other people may use.<\/strong><\/em><\/li>\n
  8. Ask me to look over your resume before printing your final copy.<\/strong><\/em><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
