These are awarded in one $10,000 scholarship and four $1,000 scholarships annually.<\/p>\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\" \/>\n<h4><a href=\"https:\/\/app.mykaleidoscope.com\/scholarship\/glennenglish2021\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Click here to apply for a 2021 Youth Tour Alumni Scholarship<\/a><\/h4>\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\" \/>\n<h4>Dates &amp; Deadlines<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Applications will be accepted starting on\u00a0<strong>February 2, 2021<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>The deadline for application submission is\u00a0<strong>11:59 P.M. EST April 5, 2021.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Winners are selected by our scholarship committee and announced after our summer board meeting in\u00a0<strong>Mid-July, 2021.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Awards are distributed in\u00a0<strong>August\/September, 2021.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>Eligibility Requirements<\/h4>\n<p>To be considered for the Youth Tour Alumni Scholarship, you must meet each the following requirements:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Be a U.S. Citizen.<\/li>\n<li>Be a former participant in NRECA\u2019s Washington D.C. Youth Tour program.<\/li>\n<li>Have received academic credits equal to at least one year of college.<\/li>\n<li>Have completed at least one semester at an accredited university or college as a full-time student.<\/li>\n<li>Be enrolled as a full-time student at an accredited university or college by the application deadline of\u00a0<strong>April 5, 2021<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Be working on completing your first undergraduate degree.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>How to Apply<\/h4>\n<p>Applicants are judged on the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Cumulative GPA<\/li>\n<li>Internships &amp; work experience<\/li>\n<li>Civic, volunteer, and political activities<\/li>\n<li>Leadership roles pursued and\/or held<\/li>\n<li>Involvement in cooperative-based programs and activities<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>All applicants are also required to submit:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A 3-5 minute video, uploaded to\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/\">youtube.com<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If you have any questions, please contact Beth Knudson at\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:Beth.Knudson@nreca.coop\">Beth.Knudson@nreca.coop<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h4>Frequently Asked Questions<\/h4>\n<p><strong>Q:\u00a0<\/strong>I just graduated high school but have already earned enough college credits to be considered a sophomore. Am I eligible to apply?<\/p>\n<p><strong>A:\u00a0<\/strong>Not quite yet! You will need to have completed at least one semester at an accredited university or college as a full-time student. We have found that there are many scholarship opportunities for graduates immediately after high school, but these opportunities tend to taper off in subsequent years. Our goal is to help alleviate some of the financial burden incurred after your first year as a student.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Q:\u00a0<\/strong>How do I know if I\u2019m considered a \u201cfull time\u201d student?<\/p>\n<p><strong>A:\u00a0<\/strong>Because requirements can vary from school to school, our scholarship committee defers to whatever\u00a0<u>your<\/u>\u00a0college or university considers full-time. Please check your policies before applying.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Q:\u00a0<\/strong>I applied for this scholarship last year. Am I eligible to apply again?<\/p>\n<p><strong>A:\u00a0<\/strong>Absolutely! As long as you meet our eligibility requirements listed above\u00a0you are welcome to apply multiple times.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Q:\u00a0<\/strong>I am already a Youth Tour Alumni Scholarship winner! Am I eligible to apply again?<\/p>\n<p><strong>A:\u00a0<\/strong>You sure are! And congrats! As long as you meet our eligibility requirements listed above you are welcome to apply \u2013 and win! \u2013 multiple times.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Q:\u00a0<\/strong>I have an Associate\u2019s Degree, or a 2-year degree from a community, technical, or \u201cjunior\u201d college and I am now enrolled in a 4-year degree program. Am I eligible to receive the Youth Tour Alumni scholarship?<\/p>\n<p><strong>A:\u00a0<\/strong>Yes. As long as you are not pursuing an\u00a0<em>additional<\/em>\u00a0Bachelor\u2019s (or any \u201cfour-year\u201d) Degree or a graduate degree, you are eligible.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Q:\u00a0<\/strong>What should my application video be about?<\/p>\n<p><strong>A:\u00a0<\/strong>Each applicant is required to create and submit a video. Subject matter should contain some, or all, of the following elements:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>How Youth Tour and\/or YLC impacted me | How I applied lessons I learned through these programs later in life | My impression of electric co-ops | How I have given back to my local, sponsoring cooperative, statewide electric co-op organization, and\/or NRECA | How does what I\u2019m doing right now, either in college or in my extracurricular activities, tie in with the 7 Cooperative Principles? Committee coordinators see to it that those applicants with judges from their home state or co-op are assigned to judges outside their areas to maintain fairness.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Q:\u00a0<\/strong>Can I start my application now and finish it later?<\/p>\n<p><strong>A.\u00a0<\/strong>Yes! You will be able to access your application using the email address you provide during the beginning of the application process. Please note:\u00a0<strong>Our deadline is April 5, 2021<\/strong>. Your application will not be considered unless it is submitted.
