SUMMARY: Under the direct supervision of the Warehouse Supervisor, the Warehouse Worker receives, stores and issues stock and maintains related records for inventory and non-inventory materials and parts. The incumbent also operates a forklift and a front-end loader in a safe manner. In addition, the employee participates in the counting and tabulation of cyclical physical inventory and operates a personal computer and other office equipment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Issues and processes computer charge, credit, return to vendor and transfer tickets in accordance with departmental procedures. Receives and unloads freight in a safe manner and inspects materials received for damage. Stores all incoming materials received in correct locations including pre-stage materials. Files freight claims on damaged or missing materials. Uses the computer to check in and validate the materials received against the receiving record. Participates in the counting and tabulation of cyclical physical inventories. Assists in determining causes of any discrepancies. Fills work order material lists ensuring that materials dispersed are in accordance with the materials requested. Delivers requested materials to designated plant locations when required. Loads and charges out all materials and equipment requested by maintenance personnel and all equipment and materials assigned by work order for construction contractors. Packages, labels and fills out computer and written bills of lading on all outgoing freight. Tracks freight shipments incoming and outbound by computer and telephone as required. Uses Key Freight to determine the most economical freight rates. Keeps warehouse inventories in strict numerical order and in a clean, safe and orderly condition. Assists in the tool room during high activity periods and occasionally fills in in the tool room area by assisting plant employees with tool and supply disbursement.

QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and behaviors required of this position. 

Education and Experience: A high school diploma or equivalent, five (5) years of experience in a warehousing environment, and the use of a computerized inventory system in a power plant or industrial environment are required.

Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as purchase orders, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write basic correspondence or brief emails. Ability to speak effectively with other employees.

Math Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situation.

Computer Skills: Ability to use or learn to use the automated purchasing and materials management processes in PeopleSoft and basic Microsoft Office software including Outlook and Word.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: This position requires a current driver’s license.

WORK SCHEDULE REQUIREMENTS: This position normally works a daytime shift, but may be required to work nights, weekends and additional hours as needed and to travel on short notice as required.
