Northwest Technology Center Foundation Student Scholarships
Each year a portion of the monies raised by the Foundation will go to support scholarships for deserving students. This financial assistance may include books, tuition, and other educational costs. The Foundation Scholarship committee assists in the establishment of scholarships and the selection of the recipients.
Adults only may apply for the Fall NWTC Foundation Scholarships. High school juniors or seniors and adults may apply for the Spring NWTC Foundation Scholarships. To claim the scholarship, students will be required to show that they are incurring some type of educational expense for either the current semester or next summer or fall.

The NWTC Foundation Scholarships for the Spring Semester are due February 10, 2023.
Some expenses that may be included in the calculation of need includes:
- Tuition – NWTC Tuition for in-district adults is $2 per hour and $4 per hour for out-of-district adults except for Practical Nursing students. There are 90 days in the Spring 2023 semester. An all day adult student who lives in-district will attend 90 days at 6 hours per day which equals 540 hours times $2 in-district tuition which equals tuition cost of $1,080 for tuition cost for Spring 2023. Half day adults only attend 3 hours per day which would be 270 hours times $2 per hour which equals $540 tuition cost for the Spring 2023 for in-district students.
- Fees – NWTC Fees are approximately $0.50 per hour of instruction. For the Spring 2023 semester, there are 90 days times 6 for all day or 3 for half day times $0.50 to get the cost of fees.
- Mileage – The current standard mileage reimbursement rate is $0.655 per mile. To calculate the expected mileage cost for the Spring 2023 semester, take the total number of miles from your house to NWTC (1801 11th Street, Alva) and multiple times 2 for both to and from school and multiply by $0.655 times 90 days (number of days in Spring semester).
- Industry certifications and licenses may be additional costs. Your instructor can tell you if you will have additional costs for certifications and licenses this semester.
- Clothings, tools, etc. – If you have to purchase certain clothing, shoes, tools, etc for your program you may submit that cost; however, be sure you can include a receipt with the exact cost required for your program.
