Mid-America Tire Dealers Association Scholarship 

Students who are interested in applying need to visit with Mrs. Frascht as soon as possible for application information. Students (who want to apply for any of the 3 scholarships) need to return all application materials to Mrs. Frascht by February 8, 2023!

The Board of Directors for the Mid America Tire Dealers Association has established a scholarship program to help promote career opportunities in the tire industry for Kansas, Nebraska and Oklahoma students. The Board of Directors will award a minimum of six scholarships in the amount of $500 each.  An effort will be made to award four scholarships to students planning to attend a college or university and two scholarships will be awarded to students planning to attend a tech school or tech college (if appropriate applications are received).

New this year is the opportunity to receive a $5,000 scholarship for a student entering a trade school that will lead to a career in the tire and automotive industry. Use this application and note that trade school to be considered for this substantial aid.

 

The requirements for the scholarship program are as follows:

  1. The student must be sponsored by a current member or employee of a member of the MATDA;
  1. The student must be a high school senior, have graduated high school or received the equivalent of a high school diploma;
  2. The student must be a U.S. citizen; and
  3. Existing MATDA recipients may continue to apply for three years if they maintain at least the minimum graduating GPA for the school they are attending (Not to be below a 2.5  cumulative GPA on a 4.0 scale.)

The Scholarship awards will be based on a combination of the following criteria;

  1. Evidence of scholastic potential and achievement;
  2. School, business, and community activities;
  3. How the student intends to use the scholarship funds to offset the costs of their education;
  4. A personal statement about the student’s career goals;
  5. The award will be made without regard to financial need;
  6. Selection will be made by the MATDA Board of Directors;
  7. The award is given without regard to race, age, gender, or religion.

The Board of Directors will announce the winners of the MATDA Scholarships at the 2023 Annual Convention and Trade Show. Scholarship winners will be awarded the scholarship funds when the association office has received proof of enrollment in secondary education.  Scholarships are for the Fall of the 2023 school year and checks will be made payable to school and/or recipient.
