SUMMARY: Under the general supervision of the V.P., Generation, the Plant Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Anadarko Power Plant in a reliable, efficient, and safe manner. The incumbent manages the power plant to produce reliable power at the lowest possible cost consistent with safe and environmentally acceptable practices.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Plant Operations and Maintenance Department employees.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Includes the following; other duties may be assigned. Responsible for the reliable, efficient, and safe operation of the power generating station. Responsible for the security, upkeep, and authorized use of site grounds and facilities. Responsible for comprehensive documentation and accurate, thorough reporting of all plant activities. Uses management methods that will lead to the development of the full capabilities of the employees within the framework of prevailing corporate policy and achieve a high level of employee morale. Prepares, tracks, and maintains the operations and maintenance budget. Ensures that all employees are competent and properly trained in the skills and abilities required to satisfactorily perform their duties in a safe and effective manner. Approves personnel actions such as promotions, discipline, and recognition. Prepares performance assessments, reviews, and approves performance plans, and provides performance feedback to plant employees to ensure employee development. Plans and coordinates unit outages so that maintenance work is well organized, efficient and cost effective. Prepares outage cost schedules and estimates manpower requirements for outages. Maintains an ongoing and current knowledge of plant equipment and its status. Maintains maintenance records on equipment and evaluates ongoing maintenance cost and maintenance priorities. Ensures plant operating parameters are within local, state, federal, NERC, and environmental standards. Reviews, updates, and assures compliance with all plant procedures and NERC compliance. Keeps the V.P. Generation informed of operating conditions by investigating and reporting all unit trips, abnormal or emergency situations, equipment damage, load restrictions or forced reductions, unsafe acts or conditions, policy or procedure violations, daily plant status report, monthly report. Participates in communicating with the ACES marketing group. Has knowledge of the SPP marketing process.

QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities and behaviors required.
Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering or an equivalent degree in a directly related field and eight (8) years of progressively responsible experience in an electric power generating station. Additional related experience may be substituted for education at the rate of two (2) years of experience for one (1) year of education. Must have demonstrated success in supervising employees in a plant environment.
Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to effectively present information to employees, management, public groups, and/or others.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Project Management, and applicable PeopleSoft applications.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: This job requires a valid current driver’s license.
WORK SCHEDULE REQUIREMENTS: Working hours may vary with periods of work required beyond normal office hours. Travel may be required with little or no advance notice.
