Reminders…

  1. Do not log in to any Apple iCloud, Mac Mail or other personalization accounts except Google Drive (Sheets, Docs, etc.) and Gmail. Everyone uses the same Mac user account so please do not customize the user account to your settings which means do NOT add you Google profile settingLogin to gmail and then go to Apps  icon then select Google Drive or a profile could automatically be created for you and the bookmarks may not be available to the next person.
  2. This year… no rotating computers if possible! I will document which computer you are setting at. This will be important if anyone gets sick and we need documentation of who they have sat by.
  3. Scholarship information – http://nwtech.edu/alvacc/scholarship-tips/ – is available at under the Enhancement menu on the Career Center website at www.nwtech.edu/alvacc. You may select Scholarships from the Categories option at the right side of the Career Center page to filter out all announcements related to scholarships.

Assignment 1 – ICAP Planning Document

Oklahoma high school students are now held accountable for several Oklahoma ICAP activities before they may graduate.  One of the requirements for Career Center is for students to complete to complete the ICAP Planning Document that I have placed in the Shared Google Drive folder that I have made for you. This is the time to really think about what  your plans are next year.  Are you wanting to go to college? If so, what are you possible options. Do you want to go to tech center? If so, what tech centers have the options you want to pursue?
  1. After completing the questions in the document,  print the document and place in sheet protectors and put in your  Career Center notebook.

 

Assignment 2 – Student Scholarships

Are you planning on continuing your education?  Will you need to apply for scholarships to assist with the cost?  Do you know how to access the scholarship tracking spreadsheet I placed in an Alvacc2023 Google Drive folder for you?

Northwest Tech Foundation Scholarship

Each year a portion of the monies raised by the Foundation will go to support scholarships for deserving students. This financial assistance may include books, tuition, and other educational costs. The Foundation Scholarship committee assists in the establishment of scholarships and the selection of the recipients.

Adults only may apply for the Fall NWTC Foundation Scholarships. High school juniors or seniors and adults may apply for the Spring NWTC Foundation Scholarships.  To claim the scholarship, students will be required to show that they are incurring some type of educational expense for either the current semester or next summer or fall.

Coca-Cola Scholarship

The Coca-Cola Scholars Program scholarship is an achievement-based scholarship awarded to students in their final year of high school. Students are recognized for their capacity to lead and serve, as well as their commitment to making a significant impact on their schools and communities. With the 35th class in 2023, the Foundation has provided over 6,750 Coca-Cola Scholars with more than $81 million in educational support. 150 Coca-Cola Scholars are selected each year to receive this $20,000 scholarship. Assignment 3 – Update your Resume

Last year you created a resume that should be stored in the Shared Google Drive folder.  Find that resume on the Shared Google Drive. Create a “copy” of the resume and move the copy to the Alvacc2023 folder I created and shared with you on the Google Drive.  Update the resume if needed.  Print a copy of the updated resume and place it in your black binder before the work from last year.

Virtual Job Shadow Login Instructions

Staff and students of the Northwest Tech Campus – Alva may access their user accounts at https://www.virtualjobshadow.com/login/AC5760/users/?. Students will use the same username and password as used for WorkKeys assessments. Usernames (except for a few students) will be your FirstnameLastname. Your password will be a six digit number representing your birthdate such as 020503 if you were born on February 5, 2003. If you need assistance with your username and password, please let Mrs. Frascht know.  Usernames and passwords should be recorded in the Passwords Google Sheet I have provided in the Google Drive folder I have Shared with you for the Career Center.

Complete the Which Personality Type Are You? 16Personalities.com  Assignment in VirtualJobShadow.com.

  1. Be sure to follow the steps of the assignment in Virtual Job Shadow and have the results of the 16Personalities.com survey sent to your email address so we can refer back to the results later!!
  2. Print your results of the survey that was sent to your email.
  3. Create a PDF file of the results and save in your folder on the desktop.
  4. Upload the PDF file to the shared Google Drive folder I created for you.
  5. Print the results of the VJS assignment after it is submitted and downloaded.
