BioMed I ~ 10.03.19

Mr. Eaton will be meeting with all students at 9:30 am and 1:30 pm today.

You will be adding information to your Portfolio (black notebooks) throughout the year. Have you added your learning styles results to your portfolio?  Be sure to put everything in a sheet protector when adding to your portfolio.

Have you looked at your WorkKeys results that I have placed in your Career Center folder that I have shared with you on Google Drive?  You will be taking the WorkKeys Applied Math exam next Thursday.  You will be given a calculator and a formulas sheet to use if you wish. Maegan H. will need to take the Workplace Graphic Literacy exam on either Monday morning (I will have a sub) or first thing Tuesday morning.

You should have also taken two out of three of the WorkKeys assessments.  So how do your scores relate to occupations you are interested in?  To find out more about specific careers and their skills requirements, check out the ACT job profiles database.

You can also learn more about each individual assessment thru the links below:

This week you will be creating an account with OkCareerGuide.  When creating your user account please use the format FirstLast-nwtc as your username and use the same password as your WorkKeys account which is a six digit number representing the month, day and year of your birthday. Be sure to record this information in the Usernames and Passwords Google Sheet I created for you in the Shared Folder with your name and Career Center.

You will take the following assessments in OkCareerGuide:

  1. Kuder Career Interests Assessment: This assessment connects students top interests to career paths.  Students rate how much they would like or dislike each activity. When students are finished with the assessment, their highest interests will be matched with careers that they may enjoy. Upon completion of this assessment, a report is generated which lists five “Top Career Pathways” based on the students responses.
  2. Kuder Skills Confidence Assessment: This tool assessed what students believe they are good at doing.  Students rate how confident they are that they can accomplish each activity. When they are finished, they review the skills they have and explore careers that need those skills.
  3. Super Work Values Inventory: Students rate how important work-related values are to them. When they are finished, their values will be matched with careers that they may enjoy.

Your assessment results will show you what your interests, skills and work values are and how to apply them to a career plan for your future.  Please let me know when you have completed the three assessments and I will create a PDF of the results and place in the Shared Google Drive.

I have either added a MS Word file named iCAP Planning Document Part 1 to the Shared Folder for Career Center on the Google Drive.  Enter the requested information as you complete the iCAP planning activities using the OK Career Guide you create.  There is a link to the OK Career Guide website under the Enhancement menu or towards the bottom of this announcement.
